I came to live this title after needing much help with my body's ongoing pain. Five years ago I truly felt I looked like I had gone through some really tough times in the not so distant past. I was worn down physically, mentally, emotionally just moving on auto pilot. Thank my spiritual guide, Father George W. Hurley, for never leaving me and leading me to Dr. Davis' old office.
Right from the start, doing tests was different, not just relying on x-rays, but standing on some kind of foot machine, all kinds of turns, questions. Then, Dr. Davis, evaluates, explains why I have been falling, did an adjustment, directing me to other area of his facility to do exercises. I would be expected to do theses every time I came to his office. The irony was I came to him the last day he would be using this smaller office as he was moving across the street to a much larger newly renovated facility. I had to wait a few weeks before I could resume my treatment. I was able to resume my treatment in this newly renovated beautiful designed larger space. Even the bathrooms have inspirational messages to live your life well.
Dr. Davis’s method was for me to use his skills, facility and equally caring, knowledgeable staff to begin healing myself. Introducing me to certain exercises to do at home, himalayan salt water, the need to hydrate with water, acupuncture, physical therapy, massage therapy as well his unique chiropractic service that had me sit in a specially designed chair as this computer and some kind of instrument could accurately pinpoint areas of my back needing adjustment.
Due to my amount of pain I needed to avail myself more than one day. It would be a process not a marathon. In addition, to additional exercises the physical therapist would provide for me to do at home between visits. I have learned to integrate these exercises into my daily life, i.e. squats while brushing my teeth, marching, walking the dog, etc.
In my regular frequent visits with other staff members I was able to recognize some areas of my past life needing attention to heal as well. I was being transformed, evolving spiritually as well. Since I had less pain my attention to spiritual development increased.
My own motto has become “Pain will make you move, and exercise will move the pain.”
Dr. Alfred Davis often called me “young lady”. I had thought it was easier than to use my name, Yelverton-Spruce. Now in retrospect, maybe he was planting a thought subconsciously in me to think youthful, vibrant, inquisitive, open to try new and different things. A lady stands erect shoulders and back straight standing proudly in her own truth.
He, also, had this very nice, calm demeanor. Nice not too loud, not too meek, just equally measured, even in the 2020 pandemic. His blessed assurance was like his calling. He believed he could help make me well. He knew he had this gift of healing with his hands, AND to teach alternative methods to being healed.
The ability of discernment, he hand picked each member of his team who truly believes in the possibilities of alternative methods to bring relief from pain and healing. In addition, to have similar personalities of calm, positive energy. Not just one member, but anyone I ever encountered who worked at his center.
Dr. Alfred Davis was metaphorically, Moses leading people out of the wilderness of pain for forty years. Now it’s up to his handpicked team members to continue the journey to take it to the next level, prayerfully 40 more.. 316 ORANGE ROAD, MONTCLAIR, NJ (973) 783-0158.
